Yan
and Huang were Chinese Emperors about 5,000 years ago. Yan defeated Haung
according to historical documents dating from that period. This is the
period when the first written documentation regarding Chinese medicine
appears. The name Yan Haung is derived from the two rivals and the medical
documents left behind. This was also the beginning of the Han nationality.
Han literally means Chinese person.
Yan Huang Traditional Clinical Hospital was formed in 1998. Originally it was formed to exclusively serve the Politburo and high government officials. It has recently been opened to the public. Following the public opening memberships were offered. The membership entitles the members and their families to medical services, it acts as a form of insurance.
Traveler's Tip:
It is too costly for the average citizen, and is used primarily by the wealthy, including visitors from Japan and Korea. There are social events throughout the year, at the Yan Huang Clinical Hospital, which offers the opportunity for the elite to meet with others from the business sector and political world. In the US we would call this a social club, with medical benefits.
